HeART in Motion is more than a studio to meet your dance and fitness goals with trained professionals-it’s a community welcoming you to experience joy, positivity and nurture your creative soul. Our mission is to provide high-quality and memorable dance experiences for all ages, levels, aspirations, and abilities, and to enrich the vibrant performing arts community and culture in Bergen County, NJ. We offer a compassionate and nurturing learning environment while also maintaining an emphasis on proper technique and artistry from the heart. We believe in setting high but manageable expectations to allow students to grow and be pushed in a way that also sets them up for success.

Our Approach

Here at HeART, we focus on a nurturing and welcoming class environment for students of all ages and abilities while still providing quality training across all disciplines. Our instructors are well versed in their techniques and come from a wide variety of accredited backgrounds including Mason Gross School of the Arts, Tisch School of the Arts at NYU, Alvin Ailey, and The School of American Ballet.

We are a non-competition based school meaning we do not participate in local or traveling dance competitions and instead focus on creating a well rounded education within our studio walls. We participate in many community performances and events throughout Bergen County to allow students to get involved in their community. Younger students will experience a range of technical steps to fun activities and movements in class while intermediate and advanced students will experience different styles, dance history, and music theory to broaden their education.

Performance Opportunities

Students of all levels are eligible for various performance opportunities throughout the year. All performance opportunities are optional to create a pressure free environment for students. All students are able to perform in our Recital at the end of the school year, and students aged 7+ are able to join us for our performance of The Nutcracker in December. Various community driven events occur throughout the year where intermediate and advanced students may be invited to participate as well.

Student Teaching Opportunities

Students ages 12+ have the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned in the classroom through teaching experience. Student Teaching Assistants help with a variety of Pre-School, Kindergarten, and Level 1 classes in giving corrections, demonstrating, and providing extra personalized attention to students alongside the main instructor. Student Teaching provides students with experience in leadership and opens a pathway for those interested in teaching dance in the future.
